CodeGuard automatically keeps backups of your website (files and database) in a separate location, so you can restore an earlier version if something goes wrong, for example after a bad update or an attack.
Why use it?
- Backups are stored outside your server, so they are not lost together with the website.
- It works automatically, without you having to remember to take a backup.
- You can restore the whole website or individual files.
It complements the backups in Plesk. See Backups in Plesk.
Plans
Plans differ in storage space: from 1GB Lite at €1.90/month to 200GB Power Plus at €50.65/month. Choose a little more space than your website's current size, so that future backups also fit. You will find all plans on the CodeGuard page.
How do I set it up?
- Order the plan you want from the CodeGuard page.
- After payment, open My Services and select the CodeGuard service.
- From the service page, log in to the CodeGuard dashboard.
- Add your website using its FTP/SFTP access details. You can find them in Plesk (see Uploading files: File Manager & FTP).
- Also add the database, using the details found under "Databases" in Plesk (see Databases & phpMyAdmin).
- Wait for the first backup to complete. The time depends on the size of the website.
Restoring
In the CodeGuard dashboard, choose the date of the backup and start the restore. Before a full restore, consider whether recent changes, such as new orders in an online shop, would be lost.
