Have you purchased an SSL certificate and want to activate it on your website? Here are the steps from the order to the installation.

1. Make sure the invoice is paid

Certificate setup starts once the invoice is paid. Check your invoices and the article Invoices & payment.

2. Configure the certificate

  1. Log in to the Client Area.
  2. Open My Services and select the SSL certificate.
  3. Follow the setup wizard shown on the service page. You will be asked for the domain and, where needed, a CSR (certificate signing request).
  4. Choose how to validate the domain: an email to an address on the domain (e.g. admin@), a DNS record, or a file on the website.
  5. Complete the validation. For OV and EV certificates your business details are checked as well.

3. How do I create a CSR in Plesk?

  1. Log in to Plesk (see Logging in to Plesk).
  2. In "Websites & Domains", choose the domain and open "SSL/TLS Certificates".
  3. Fill in the details and create a request. Copy the CSR into the setup wizard in the Client Area. The private key stays stored in Plesk.

4. Installation

Once the certificate is issued, you will receive its files. If it has not been installed automatically, open "SSL/TLS Certificates" in Plesk again, upload the certificate and the intermediate (CA) certificate, and set it as the domain's certificate.

5. Check

Open your website with https:// and check that the padlock appears. If you use WordPress, make sure the site address starts with https://.
